Studio
Remove computer equipment from the studio
The regional studios of a ARD broadcasting station were rebuilt to establish a flexible, user friendly environment with almost no computers.
G&D’s KVM solutions enabled the station to remove their computers to a central computer room. The radio hosts as well as the producers are still able to fully access those computers from their studios in realtime.
The peripherals saving solution reduces the noise level in the studio and avoids unnecessary heat emissions.

OB Vans
Access the technology from everywhere
Today most of the OB van technology is computer-based.
G&D products are deployed to enable all workplaces within the OB van to have access to each computer. The flexible operation concept of the OB van is therefore supported in an optimal way.
Further advantages are space savings in the different working areas as well as improving the working conditions for the staff.

Mobile radio transmission
Enable a quick and flexible setup
One of the greatest challenges of outside radio broadcasting is the compromise between permanently changing, cramped confines and an effective working environment for the broadcast technicans.
KVM Extender allow the separation of computer and human. Both can therefore work under best possible conditions. The computers are housed in a dedicated container. The technicians on the other hand reside in near-by containers such as the Master Control Room.

Post production
Realize computer free offices
High-performance computers for editing images cause noise and heat emissions.
To keep those emissions away from the staff, the computers are moved out of the offices into a dedicated plant room using G&D KVM Multichannel Extenders.
This way, the working conditions for employees as well as for computers are optimised which increases productivity and concentration of all staff members.

Special: Monitoring
High operational safety and reliability are essential to G&D products.
Enhancing these well-established attributes, our latest products come fully equipped with two network ports for configuring and monitoring these devices.
Configuration is done via the web interface „Config Panel“ displayed in a graphical user interface. The optional monitoring feature „DevCon function“ enables active system query and dispatches the information of G&D devices as SNMP or Syslog message.
Any critical operational status can be recognised in advance and the system administrator can act accordingly.
Monitoring, Reporting & Requesting via „DevCon function“
The function is carried out through a web interface, which is integrated into the devices. Besides the possibility to configure essential device settings, this graphical interface enables the user to query status information.
In the information area the values set in the configuration area and above all the detected status values are displayed.
Among others, the following status values are provided:
- main power supply - device
- redundant power supply – device
- temperature – device
- power supply – computer
- DVI video input channel 1
- DVI video input channel 2
- uninterrupted transmission on all transmission cables
- etc.
If values are outside predefined limits they are highlighted in red. Furthermore, the device informs the administrator according to the pre-set parameters.
Supported products
This function is currently supported by the the following product families:
- KVM Extender - DL-Vision
- KVM Switch - DVIMUX4-DL-SEC
- CompactCenter X2
- Central monitoring Appliance- DevConCenter
Further networkable products are projected.
